Her father served in U.S. service in Italy. Mid-1990s, she started doing professional dance and performance at the Boulder Dinner Theatre in Colorado and Country Dinner Playhouse. In the following year in Minnesota, at a local theatre, she was a chosen to be a part of the mock documentary about beauty pageants called Drop Dead Gorgeous. Following her debut on screen as a charming but snarky contestant, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She was married to Tony Curtis was her partner from June 1950 until September 1992. She had two children, Kelly Curtis as well as Jamie Lee Curtis. She was discovered by actor Norma Shearer Leigh secured a contract with MGM and started her film career during the latter half of 1940s. Leigh was a star in a variety of films that became popular over the decade that followed, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (from the year 1960) and Living It Up (1954) with Martin Lewis.
